Doctrinal Statement
What we believe at Wyatte:
1. GOD: We believe in only one true and living God - God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit; and these three are One, working harmoniously in the great work of redeeming lost mankind. II Corinthians 13:14, John 1:1-3
2. SCRIPTURES: We believe that the Scriptures compromising the Old and New Testaments, are the inerrant Word of God, and are the only authoritative rule of faith and practice. II Timothy 3:16, Revelations 22:18-19
3. THE FALL OF MAN: We believe in the total sinful nature of man and his complete inability to save himself. Romans 3:10, 6:23, 3:2.
4. THE MEDIATOR: We believe that sinners are justified and saved in the sight of God ONLY through childlike faith in the risen Christ Jesus and His shed blood, whereby His righteousness is given unto them by His grace. Ephesians 2:8-9, John 14:6, John 1:12, II Timothy 2:5
5. SALVATION: We believe that God's eternal invitation unto everlasting life is to all people, not because of merit in them, but because of His mercy and grace in Christ. When man accepts Christ as Saviour, he is then justified and reconciled. We believe in Jesus only for Salvation. Ephesians 2:8-10, Romans 9:30, Acts 20:20-21
6. SECURITY OF THE BELIEVER: We believe that those who are true believers in Christ will never totally nor finally fall away from salvation, but shall certainly be preserved to the end. John 10:27-29, Romans 8:38-39, I Peter 1:5
7. ORDINANCES: We believe that Baptism and the Lord's Supper are the only ordinances given to the church by Jesus Christ.
Baptism is immersion in water for true believers only and is a requirement for full church membership and for proper observance of the Lord's Supper. Baptism is symbolic of the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ and the forgiveness of sins, giving Himself to God to live and walk in newness of His life. Romans 6:4-5. Matthew 3:13-17
The Lord's Supper is administered with the bread and fruit of the vine, and to be observed by His church until Christ comes again. It is in no sense a saving grace, but is designed to commemorate our faith, and to be a bond, pledge, and renewal of our communion with Him and our church fellowship. Matthew 26:26-30, I Corinthians 11:23-24
Furthermore, we welcome those to participate with us in this supper who are of like faith and practice.
8. RESURRECTION: We believe in the resurrection of the dead and a final judgment.
